Tuesdays with Dorie -- Hungarian Shortbread
Sounds weird: Hungarian Shortbread…
Tastes yummy!
I made three changes to the recipe:
1. I used my food processor to grate the frozen dough
2. I used blueberry-cherry jam and lemon curd for the filling instead of rhubarb
3. I par-baked the bottom crust.
Yummy and will definitely make again!
Some Treasures...
This weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) I made:
Pear Upside Down Cake for Cal’s teacher’s birthday. I brought it at the end of the day so he could take it home to have with his family, and not feel like he had to share it at school. I put it on a fancy-looking glass plate, and wrapped it in cello. I forgot to snap a pic BEFORE I wrapped it, which is too bad, because it looked...
Lemon Loaf Cake -- Tuesdays with Dorie...
Super easy, not much mess or clean-up. I thought this might go into the permanent rotation, but probably not.
I might have over-cooked it a wee bit, but I found it too firm and tough. My 8-year old son described it as “bouncy”. I was VERY careful not to over mix.
Not enough lemon flavor for my taste, though if I had made a glaze it would have been perfect.

Pizza Rustica -- Tuesdays with Dorie
So Easy…So Tasty…
This week’s effort from Baking with Julia was Pizza Rustica.

I...

oh what now?
Uggh. keep adding things to the list of christmas projects. Making fingerless gloves from wool sweaters I am felting in the washer. Some are working well, the merino wool doesn’t seem to felt, though. Also, cookies for the school christmas pageant/party, new stockings, and puppet theater for the nieces and nephews, scarves for the sisters. oh my god it goes on. How about also the pomegranate...
Totem Pole Peace Machine
My 5 y.o. son told me he wants to make a Peace Machine using a totem pole. The Peace Machine will stop people from warring ever again in the future. I love this.
I turned his pullover sweatshirt with the school logo into a zip-through. Then, he decided it is kind of long, and he can’t walk as fast when he is wearing it.
what's today?
I made the mousse. Pain but really good. Now I have to put a zipper into my son’s school logo pullover sweatshirt. I did this with a couple other pullover hoodies he has, but this one has no hood. Will it look odd?
what's today?
I am planning to make chocolate mousse. I am doing this instead. I also want to try to get one more chair slipcover done this evening.
